Welcome to Griffins Basketball. 

 

We participate in the Albany Basketball Association's (ABA) summer competition which runs from October to March each year.  

 

 

Following the nomination period, teams will be formed. Some grades may require team trial sessions to help place players in grades. Once the above is complete and players are allocated to a team, you will receive an email with your team information. At this time everyone will be asked to 'register'. It is at this stage that you will pay your full fees.

 

If you are a Kidsport user, we recommend applying for your voucher early to help make enrolment smooth for everyone.

 

Please note, as of the 2025/26 season, there have been changes made by the ABA with the junior age groups to align with Basketball WA.  

 

U10 – Born 2017, 2018
U12 – Born 2015, 2016
U14 – Born 2013, 2014
U16 – Born 2011, 2012
U19 – Born 2008, 2009, 2010

Senior divisions will remain unchanged.

Junior players wishing to also play in a senior team must first be registered and playing in a junior team. Players born in 2008 are not considered juniors for this purpose.  All juniors playing in the senior comp must be 15 years or older.

Aussie Hoops will return in Term 4 for our youngest players born in 2019 and 2020. It runs for 7 weeks. Registrations for Aussie Hoops will open early September - via email and advertised on the ABA's social media pages.

• On occasion we are unable to offer a place on a team to all players. This is because basketball clubs are restricted on the amount of teams we can enter per grade. Also, we need to have a coach and team manager for each team. If we cannot form a team or offer a place, we will let you know as soon as this becomes clear (during the nomination process). Your $15 will be reimbursed if there is not a place avlaiable on a team.

The deadline for short ordering is 21st August.  The Great Southern Grammar Uniform Shop have a small selection of shorts for sizing. If you are unsure what size to buy, please do call in and 'try on'. The shop opening hours are Mon, Wed and Fri. • Griffins is home to approximately 25 teams, both school aged and adults.  Our 'home base' is at Great Southern Grammar school, Nanarup Road, Albany. Most (but not all) teams also take the opportunity to train at this venue.
